Where We Are Today

Today, the association stands again—stronger, wiser, and more united than before. What once nearly faded has been rebuilt with renewed purpose. The voices, drums, language, and traditions of the Yoruba people now echo once more in Málaga, not as a fragile effort, but as a resilient community. Lessons from the past have shaped a more transparent and committed leadership, where culture is not just celebrated, but protected. New members join with pride, and old members return with hope. What was broken has been mended, and what remains is a deeper sense of identity and belonging.

How We Started

It began simply, with a small group of Yoruba individuals in Málaga around 2010—friends and families who shared laughter, memories, and a longing for home. Far from Nigeria, they carried their culture in their hearts and wanted the world around them to see its beauty. They gathered in living rooms, shared traditional food, spoke their language, and celebrated festivals in modest ways. What started as a few people with a dream slowly grew into an association, built on love for heritage and the desire to pass it on to the next generation.

What We Went Through in Spain

The journey was not easy. Over time, challenges began to test the foundation of the association. Mismanagement, misunderstandings, and lack of structure slowly drained both trust and finances. What once felt like a family started to fracture, and eventually, the association broke apart. It was a painful period marked by disappointment and silence. Yet, even in those difficult moments, the spirit of the culture did not disappear. Individuals carried it quietly, waiting for the right time to rebuild. Those struggles, though hard, became lessons—lessons that now guide the association toward a better and more stable future.
